I was born in 1958 in California for no particular reason. As a somewhat innately nomadic poet, mystic and educator whose heart is enthralled with the largely unspoilt beauty of New Zealand where I live with my husband and my son, I nevertheless tend to pine for old world surroundings. My never ending love affair is with travel in general, and with Mediterranean countries and old European cities in particular. I would like my ashes scattered on the Isle of Iona, where I once remembered the fullness of my soul and was forever changed. My beautiful daughter Lily lives in Sydney, Australia- and is someone whose work I very much admire.
The work I currently do is focused at the intersections where self-healing and education come together in the lives of women. Prior to that from 1979-1995 I studied a multitude of holistic healing systems, was a licensed massage therapist, and have been facilitating my own self-development courses since 1984. Upon earning a Masters in adult education in 1998 I taught extensively in private and public sectors and from primary to tertiary in the USA, France, and Australia. I was trained as a non-violence educator through the Alternatives to Violence Project, and also through a 2 year training program to become certified as a Behaviour Intervention Specialist. This led to teaching adult conflict resolution courses in a variety of settings, as well as to working extensively with youth at risk.
Here in New Zealand I've worked as a lecturer in Communication Studies and the School of Education at Auckland University of Technology, as a resource coordinator for the New Zealand Peace Foundation, and most recently as a self-employed facilitator of women's courses and retreats. Last but not least, I am a free lance writer and author.
